Under the Pramada prefix we initially bred and exhibited primarily standard longhaired Dachshunds. Along the way we also bred and exhibited miniature longhaired Dachshunds, standard and miniature smooth haired Dachshunds, Whippets and Pomeranians. Some of our early Dachshunds were "of color", i.e. chocolate and dapples. After we moved to Arizona, we gave the remaining Dachshunds to our daughter Maggie. Shortly before we lost our 16 year old Pomeranian we acquired our first Affenpinscher. Trevor became the light of our lives.
We began breeding dogs in Michigan while Dave was still in graduate school and continued for the next 38 years. We were most active when we lived in Minnesota from 1971-1997. In addition to finishing virtually all of our dogs, Dave also handled Dachshunds for others. Two of our Dachshunds achieved ROMX status and one is an ROM. One of our most notable achievements was breeding the first Longhaired Dachshund to win the group at Westminster KC.
Trevor won his first major at the National with Dave handling and went on to become a multiple BIS winner. He earned Awards of Merit at 2 subsequent Nationals, at Westminster, and at 3 AKC Invitational shows. After finishing and campaigning Trevor we decided to breed a litter. We purchased a bitch, Tipper, and after finishing her championship she was bred to Trevor. This breeding was subsequently repeated and the progeny resulted in 6 puppies with 5 champions to date. We currently own six Affenpinschers, Trevor and 5 girls which makes Trevor very happy.
We are both AKC licensed judges. Pam has been judging for approximately 16 years and is approved to judge all Hounds, Toys and half of the Terrier Group and is also a Parent Club Approved Mentor for the Affenpinscher Club of America. Dave is approved to judge seventeen of the Hounds. We have judged in multiple states, Canada and Australia. We breed and exhibit our own dogs on a very selective basis. We attend 20 to 25 shows a year.
We have served as active members, officers and directors of both all breed and specialty clubs over the years. We chaired our Dachshund National Specialty and present seminars on the Dachshund when requested. We are both approved as mentor/presenters by the Dachshund Club of America. Dave is currently the Treasurer of Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association and its Fiesta Cluster, a 5 day event that draws approximately 3,000 dogs to Arizona for specialties, as well as all breed, obedience and agility competition. We are also currently members of the Dachshund Club of America, Affenpinscher Club of America, Arizona Toy Dog Fanciers, and the Minneapolis Kennel Club.
